hachajah is an artist originally from Colombo, Sri Lanka, now based in Boston, Massachusetts. He creates original a cappella music inspired by his experiences growing up in war-torn Sri Lanka and his visions for a hopeful post-war future.
Through his innovative fusion of mainstream pop, Sri Lankan beats, and evocative lyrics, hachajah presents narratives that are both deeply rooted in Sri Lankan traditions and universally engaging.
His debut EP, No Place Like, earned two CARA awards — the highest honour in recorded a cappella music — placing him alongside globally recognised acts from the genre. His unique approach to a cappella promises a novel yet familiar experience for listeners everywhere.
hachajah uses music not just as an expression but as a way to reclaim his story — an artist reckoning with where he comes from and forging a new path with unwavering clarity.
